Hawthorne Park

    Letter from Ann Shearman

Thank you for the many compliments we received after the official opening of Phase 3 on 15th May.   It is good to know how much families and young people appreciate and enjoy the Park.

We are currently undertaking a survey for Wyre Borough asking Park users for their comments, good or bad.   Watch for the person with a green form!

The next big event at the Park is our Fun Day on Saturday, 14th August.   We hope for good weather.   There will be a range of activities:-  a Bouncy Castle, Circus Skills, Rope Climbing, Punch & Judy and a Barbecue.   The Trustees, Friends of the Park and Thornton Youth Group are working hard to make the day enjoyable for all.

If you were unable to buy a Hawthorne Park bag last year, you will have the opportunity to buy one on 14th August.   The cost is £3.00, excellent value.

Now Phase 3 is complete, the on-going maintenance of the Park is being planned.   The heavy jobs are the responsibility of partners such as Wyre Borough.   It is the smaller general jobs that we will require assistance with; litter picking, being part of the maintenance team and responding to resident concerns etc.   This is where our Friends can be invaluable.   If you would be interested in helping and being a Friend please do contact either Sara or Michael on 855869.

    Enjoy the Park.

    Ann Shearman,  Hawthorne Park Trustee
